How dates are written in Pakistan
Offices, schools, banks and courts in Pakistan use the Gregorian (English) calendar, written day-first: 28/10/2026 or 28 October 2026. Urdu newspapers print both the Gregorian and the Islamic date at the top of the page, and religious occasions — Ramadan, Eid, Muharram, Rabi' al-Awwal — follow the Islamic date announced by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee. Be careful with the US style (month first): 03/04 means 3 April in Pakistan but March 4 in the United States.
Pakistan's time zone
The whole country uses one time zone, Pakistan Standard Time (UTC+5). Pakistan has not used daylight saving time since 2009, so the date in Pakistan changes at midnight PKT all year — that is 7 pm GMT in winter and 8 pm in British summer time. The Islamic date, however, changes at sunset; see when the Islamic date changes.
